Software Development Engineer (SDE) Intern

Utkal Technologies is a technology-driven software product company focused on building innovative, scalable, and practical software solutions for businesses. We develop modern web applications, mobile applications, and SaaS products that solve real-world problems through technology. We are looking for motivated and passionate Software Development Engineer (SDE) Interns who are eager to learn, write clean code, solve challenging problems, and contribute to real-world product development in a collaborative remote environment. As an SDE Intern, you will work closely with our development team to design, develop, test, and maintain web and mobile applications. You will gain hands-on experience working on live projects and production-oriented SaaS products while strengthening your software engineering skills. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy building products, exploring new technologies, and taking ownership of their work. Technology stack: MERN Stack, Next.js, React, React Native.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive web applications using React.js and Next.js. • Build and integrate backend services, REST APIs, and database-driven features using Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB. • Contribute to cross-platform mobile application development using React Native. • Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-structured code following industry best practices. • Collaborate with team members to plan, implement, test, and deploy new features. • Integrate third-party APIs, authentication systems, and external services. • Identify, debug, and resolve software defects and performance issues. • Use Git and GitHub for version control, collaboration, and code reviews. • Participate in technical discussions, sprint planning, and project updates. • Learn new tools, frameworks, and technologies as required by ongoing projects.

Requirements

Required • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • Good understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3. • Familiarity with React.js and component-based development. • Basic knowledge of Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs, and MongoDB. • Understanding of Next.js fundamentals or willingness to learn quickly. • Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and basic software development workflows. • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn. • Good communication, time management, and teamwork skills. • Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote environment. Preferred • Experience building personal, academic, freelance, or open-source projects. • Familiarity with TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and modern UI libraries. • Basic experience with React Native and mobile application development. • Understanding of authentication, database design, API integration, and deployment. • A GitHub profile or portfolio demonstrating practical development skills.
